ABOUT DAVID:
David has been teaching Ashtanga and Rocket yoga systems for 15+ years. He met his mentor, Larry Schultz, in the early 2000’s and with his guidance created and refined Progressive Ashtanga and Rocket yoga systems. David has been conducting teacher trainings around the globe for over a decade, and is the highest trained student by Larry Schultz in both Primary Series modifications and Rocket Series.
David Kyle is the owner of Ashtanga Yoga Puerto Rico and founder of the Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga which honors the traditional practice of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and embraces the revolutionary philosophy of Larry Schultz. Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga was established in 2004 to promote an Ashtanga based practice that holds no dogmas or bias towards the asana practice. Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is all-inclusive!
David’s teaching style is easy going and carries a strong physical foundation with a philosophical approach to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. There is a sense of light heartedness in a practice that demands a lot of courage to push through the dynamic structure that is in the Ashtanga Yoga sequencing, while maintaining a sense of graceful composure. Specific detail to breath and movement coordination is always a main focus in David’s classes, which provides a sense of safety and control for the practitioner.
ABOUT THE ROCKET:
The Rocket is a dynamic, energetic practice developed by Larry Schultz in the 80s while touring as the yoga teacher for The Grateful Dead. The sequences invigorate and strengthen students with advanced postures while still staying accessible through modifications and practicing acceptance of the bodies’ present abilities. The Rocket routines are a revision of the traditional Ashtanga series that destroys the “hierarchy” of postures and gives the student the control over their own creative process as they follow a new foundation with the openness to introduce their individual creative modifications to the series, while still honoring the core values and teachings of this ancient Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practice. All levels welcome.
